Are KEI Trucks Street Legal?

KEI trucks can be street legal in many states, but laws and restrictions vary. Depending on the state, they may qualify for standard registration, limited-road use, agricultural use, or off-road use only. A legally imported KEI truck is not automatically approved for public roads. It must also meet your state’s title, registration, insurance, inspection, and equipment requirements. The Federal 25-Year Import Rule

Vehicles at least 25 years old from their date of manufacture may generally be imported without meeting current Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Vehicles at least 21 years old may also qualify for an EPA emissions exemption when they remain in their original, unmodified configuration. These federal exemptions allow qualifying vehicles to be imported, but each state still determines whether they can be titled, registered, and driven on public roads.
